Peach picking: questions and answers

When is peach picking season?

Mostly June to August. Georgia and South Carolina start in late May or June; the Mid-Atlantic, Michigan and the West peak in July and August.

How can you tell a peach is ripe?

Look at the background color, not the red blush: it should be golden yellow with no green. A ripe peach gives slightly when you press near the stem and comes off the branch with a gentle twist.
